Joseph Peter Savoia ’51 died on June 4, 2010, in Pensacola, Florida.

Joseph Peter Savoia ’51

Joseph Peter Savoia, 84, of Pensacola, FL, formerly of Quincy and Pembroke, Massachusetts. Devoted husband of Sara (Sally) Wall Savoia. Cherished father of Cmdr. Lee Savoia-McHugh, Medical Corps, USN, and her husband, Capt. John Savoia-McHugh, Medical Corps, USN, Ret., of Pensacola, FL; Kimberly Shouse and husband, Jeffrey, of Vienna, Virginia; Lynn Savoia of Medford,  Massachusetts; Kara McCormic and husband, Keith, of Greenfield, Massachusetts; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Son of the late Joseph and Irma (Brun) Savoia.Brother of Aurora Melzar, Alba McGuiggan, and the late Enzo, Dante, and Albert Savoia. Mr. Savoia is a 1951 graduate of Bowdoin College, in Brunswick, Maine, earned his master’s degree in education from Boston University, and postgraduate work at Brown, Allegheny, and Tufts universities. He enlisted in WWII, serving as a gunner on B29s in the Pacific Theater. He taught mathematics and science classes in Weymouth, MA, public schools for thirty-five years, also serving as football coach. He was a real estate broker in Massachusetts for twenty-five years.
