Kenneth M. Schubert passed away peacefully on February 28, 2020. He was surrounded by family at the time of his death, at the age of almost 95. He had a long and wonderful life, and he will be missed by family and friends.
Ken was married to Beatrice Alfke Schubert for fifty-seven years, until her death in 2006. Bea and Ken had been together since they met in high school. Ken is survived by his four loving children: Karen (Robert) Dalton of Claremont, CA, Barbara Schubert (Dan McDonald) of Chicago, IL, Christina Schubert of Crystal Lake, IL, and Eric (Dawn) Schubert of Warrenville, IL. Ken was very proud of his eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Ken was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He served as a volunteer ambulance driver for the American Field Service during World War II. He then graduated from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. His professional career was in the corrugated-box industry, and it culminated as co-owner and president of Kendal Container Corporation. Ken and his family lived in Brooklyn, NY; Montclair, NJ; Geneva, NY; Morristown, NJ; and Elkins Park, PA — before settling in Wheaton, IL. Ken and Bea enjoyed their retirement years by traveling extensively, enjoying their home in Galena, IL, and spending time with friends and family. Ken moved back to a senior-living community in Wheaton to be closer to his family, and he lived there for his last four years.
