Lawrence J. Carlson ’76

Lawrence “Larry” John Carlson was born on November 21, 1953, in Mattapan, MA, to his loving, salt-of-the-earth parents, Christine C. Carlson and Boston firefighter, John W. Carlson.

Larry was a proud graduate of Boston College High School in Dorchester, MA. It was at BC High that he started his journey of cultivating deep, lifelong friendships. His path to future leadership roles started under the lessons learned on and off the football field under legendary coach, Jim Cotter. One of the first in his family to attend college, he graduated from Bowdoin in 1976 (forever a proud Polar Bear) and went on to Boston University for his master’s in education. His impressive career in financial services was full of leadership and deep friendships.

Larry and the love of his life, his wife of forty-seven years, Sarah “Sally” Carlson, raised their three children by the sea in Marshfield, MA. He was the most incredible father and friend to Kristen, Liz, and John, the most incredible father-in-law to Kristen’s husband, Brian Hough, and the best Poppy to Aidan, Colin, Will, Alina, and Tyler.

Larry and Sally were welcomed with open arms and created such a beautiful community in Ogunquit where Larry was highly involved. Larry and his whole family found peace and connection to each other and to the ocean with countless, beautiful memories here. Larry loved this beautiful place by the sea as he so deeply loved life
