Manfred von Mautner-Markof ‘51 died on January 8, 2008, in Vienna, Austria.

Manfred Mautner Markhof, Jr., (born 6 February, 1927, in Vienna; died January 7, 2008, in Vienna, Austria).was like his father, Manfred Mautner Markhof, Sr, was an Austrian industrialist and politician from the entrepreneurial family Mautner Markhof.  After attending the Vienna Schottengymnasium,  he studied at the University of World Trade and the University of Vienna, as well as at Bowdoin College in Brunswick (Maine) in the USA. In 1969, he was honored with an honorary doctorate from the University of Redlands. In 1949 he joined the Schwechat Brewery, joined the board in 1957 and became its chairman in 1972.

After the acquisition of the Schwechater brewery by Brau AG in 1978, he became its deputy chairman of the board. In 1967, the company became the first jersey sponsor at FK Austria Vienna,  and thus the first jersey sponsor in the Austrian Football League. As Austria president, Mautner Markhof represented the corresponding connection between the club and the company until 1971.

Politically, he has been working in the Wirtschaftsbund since 1958 – as well as in the Chamber of Commerce (vice-president). He also served as president of the Vienna State Group from 1980 to 1989 in the Industriellenvereinigung.. From 1983 to 1999, he also held a seat on  the Federal Council for the ȌVP. In 1963 he became the first president of the newly founded WWF Austria.

Manfred Mautner Markhof (II) had been with Margherita Mautner Markhof since 1951. He married Countess Cassis-Faraone (furniture manufacturer in Udine and supervisory board member of an insurance company). They had four children, including Manfred Leo Mautner Markhof (III) and Theodor Mautner Markhof.
