Matthew S. Vokey ’88 died on January 29, 2023, in Sedgewick, Maine.

Sedgwick – Matthew Snow Vokey, 57, died on January 29, 2023, at his home in Sedgewick. He was born on June 2, 1965, in London, England, the son of Richard S. Vokey (deceased) and Maureen W. Vokey of Chatham, Massachusetts.
After the family moved to the U.S. in 1977, Matthew attended Fenn School, Concord, Massachusetts and Middlesex School, Concord, Massachusetts, graduating in 1984. He played varsity football and lacrosse (All New England) and wrestled in the winter. Matthew graduated from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, with a B.A. in English Literature in 1988 where he played varsity football and lacrosse. Matthew later trained as a chef at the New England Culinary Institute, Montpellier, Vermont, worked at Sonsie’s Restaurant in Boston before opening the restaurant Rathbone’s, with his now ex-wife and mother to his children, Sarah, in Camden. He continued with the Thorndike Creamery; and later owned and ran an Air B&B in Rockland. He was on the Board of Directors of the Sail Power and Steam Museum in Rockland. Matthew started a new venture, Sloop Dogs, in July 2019 in Rockland.
Mathew is survived by his two sons, Richard and Alexander; his mother, Maureen W. Vokey; his siblings, Sarah-Jane Vokey Zerbino and her husband, Victor Zerbino, Sam Vokey and his wife, Hannah, and Luke Vokey; also by his nieces and nephews, Nicolás, Tomás and his wife, Shea, Lucía, and Olivia Zerbino; his cousins; and his ex-wife, Sarah, and her extended family.
