Myron M. Nakata ’77 died on January 24, 2022, in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Myron Mario Nakata, age 66, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2022. Born in Honolulu, Myron was a devoted husband and father and a highly respected leader in the business community. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout and graduated from Kaimuki High School (1973). He graduated from Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine (Class of 1977, B.A. in Mathematics and Sociology).
In 1977, Myron returned to Honolulu to become the president and CEO of Acutron Company, Inc., founded in 1968 by his father, Ronald Nakata. An active and avid golfer throughout his life, Myron served as first vice president of the Oahu Country Club. He also served as president of the Western Insulation Contractors Association in 1997, 1998, and 2008. Throughout his life, Myron generously shared his expertise and time to help numerous non-profit organizations by providing business consulting services and also mentoring youth.
Myron is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Terada Nakata. He is survived by his wife, Lahoma Fernandes-Nakata, his son, Brenden, his daughter, Tiare, and his grandchildren, Aiko and Brenden. Additional survivors include his father, Ronald Nakata, his sister, Suzanne, and his brothers, Alan (Marie) and Brian. Myron will forever be remembered for his strong family values, his respect for others, his indomitable spirit, and his compassion and generous heart for helping others. Myron established life-long bonds with his business relationships and friends throughout the world and will be sorely missed but deeply cherished by all who knew him.
