Peter S. Bradley ’49 died on August 3, 2017, in Portland, Maine.

Peter S. Bradley passed away August 3, 2017, at the Barron Center in Portland. He was born October 13, 1927, in Elizabeth, NJ to Charles and Wilhelmina (Higgins) Bradley.

Peter graduated from Union High School (NJ) in 1945 and from Bowdoin College in 1949 with an English degree. He was drafted by the U.S. Army and was stationed in New Jersey and Georgia. He married Mary Gans on June 7, 1952, in New Kensington, PA.

Peter worked in the public relations and advertising fields for 38 years; working for J&L Steel in Pittsburgh, PA, Kaiser Industries in Oakland, CA, and Bozell & Jacobs in Omaha Nebraska, before retiring as a vice president in 1988. He then took great pride in becoming a harbor master in York, ME, ,for four years.

Peter loved sailing and owned several boats over the years; sailing San Francisco Bay, the Caribbean, and the Atlantic Coast from Fort Lauderdale to Boothbay Harbor, ME. He also enjoyed reading, playing piano and guitar and was proud of the cattle he raised on a farm in Pennsylvania.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Hona Shimmin. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Bradley of Ogunquit; sons, Peter S. Bradley II and his wife Crystal Carson of Los Angeles, CA, Jerome A. Bradley and his wife Joy of Omaha, NE, Matthew H. Bradley of Alameda, CA, and David C. Bradley and his wife Cheryl of Elkhorn, NE; brothers, Charles A Bradley III and his wife Annie of Santa Barbara, CA, and David Bradley of Oxnard, CA; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
