Philip E. Shakir ’56 died on May 16, 2012, in West Roxbury, Massachusetts.

He was born in Framingham, Mass., on April 6, 1934, and graduated from Boston Latin School. He was a member of Alpha Rho Upsilon fraternity. He earned a master’s degree in math from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology 1957 and worked for many years as a mathematician for Raytheon and taught math at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Prior to his retirement, he was the publisher of the Nauset Calendar Newspaper. He was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn Shakir.
