Regis Jean-Francois Dognin
Regis Jean-Francois Dognin, age 83, beloved husband of fifty-seven years to Daniele R. (Desmet) Dognin, of Shelton, entered peaceful rest on September 9, 2023, at his home.
He was born on October 29, 1939 in Deauville, France, and was the son of the late Joseph Dognin and Anne Marie Auguste Dormeuil. He was a graduate of Bowdoin College and Columbia University, and he loved to share his stories of hitchhiking across the country on his summer breaks to any captive audience. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War as a physical science assistant at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Regis was a computer engineer and worked throughout his career at Singer, IBM, Sikorsky Aircraft, and the City of Shelton. He had a strong dedication to the City of Shelton and it showed not only in his work (recreating town maps) but also in preserving open space. Regis spent his free time restoring his and Daniele’s hundred-plus year-old Victorian home. He also enjoyed taking cruises on ocean liners, including the final voyage of the QE2, a cruise through the Panama Canal, and an Alaskan trip with his family.
In addition to his loving wife, Regis leaves his devoted son, Adrian Dognin, and his wife, Donna, of Terryville, and two loving grandchildren, Luke and Amy. He also leaves his brother, Eric Dognin, and his sisters Pasquale Wagner and Nadine Gulien, all of France. He was preceded in death by his sisters Marie Josie Dognin Epron, Rose-Anne Bartholomew, and Marie Helen DelSesto .
