Robert Hawley ’38 died on October 9, 2013, in Los Altos, California.

Robert Hawley passed away in his home in Los Altos at the age of 97. He is survived by his wife Maidie, his daughter Maidie Hawley Kloster and her husband Frederic Mogens Kloster and his son Chadbourn Hawley and his wife Kathleen Denise Hawley, his grandchildren Eric and Alexandra Kloster and Alexander and Chase Hawley, and his great-granddaughters Charlotte and Emily Tandy Kloster.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he grew up, Bob served in the US Marine Corps in the Pacific in World War II. After the war, he joined the import-export firm Connell Bros Co./Wilbur-Ellis Company and spent 35 years in Asia, raising three children (Maidie Rice, Robert Jr. and Chadbourn) with his wife Maidie. They spent several years in Singapore and Manila, and then settled for 20 years in Hong Kong.
Bob and Maidie enjoyed their life in the Orient and treasure the friendships gained there. Upon retiring in 1981, they settled in Los Altos, CA and have maintained their relationships with all of their friends and family.
