Robert (Bob) Petrie, passed away on April 16th at the age of 77. Bob’s legendary storytelling and warm and personable nature made him a friend to all, and his positivity will be greatly missed.
Born on January 25, 1947, to Sam and Dorothy Petrie, Bob grew up in Hingham and graduated from Hingham High School, where he cultivated a passion for hockey and golf. After continuing his hockey career at Bowdoin College and serving his country in Vietnam, Bob returned to the South Shore to raise his family with his wife Jane, the love of his life. He was known for his sense of humor and boundless enthusiasm for life, whether on the course at Cohasset Golf Club or while coaching youth sports.
After a career in banking at Lincoln Trust, Citizens Bank, and South Coastal Bank, Bob greatly enjoyed his retirement with Jane. He loved being with family and was particularly fond of spending time with his two sons and their families- son Max and daughter-in-law Susan of Marshfield, son Chris of Braintree, and grandchildren Charlie, Emmett, Evan, and Cate, and granddogs Hamilton, Bear, Tommy, and Sammy. When he wasn’t doting on his grandchildren, Bob and Jane spent their winters at Pelican Sound in Estero, FL.
