Roger F. Riefler ’62

Roger F. Riefler ’62 died on May 1, 2022, in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Roger F. Riefler, age 81 died early in the morning on May 1st, 2022, at his home with his wife, Carol, at his side. He was born on September 10, 1940, in Oceanside, New York. He served in the United States Army from 1966-1968 with the Defense Department during the Vietnam War. Roger taught at the University of Pittsburgh until he joined the University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty in 1973 and was a professor of economics from 1983 to 2005. During his many years at the university, he was the chair of the Economics Department in the UNL School of Business for nine years. He retired with the title of  Professor Emeritus.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Madeline Rielfer (Freeport, New York). He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine-and-a-half years, Carol of Lincoln, NE; his brother, John (Etta) Riefler of Charlotte, North Carolina; a niece, Laura (John) Hill; a nephew Jeff (Emily) Riefler; a sister-in-law, Jackie (Bill) Spraul;  nieces and nephews, Connie Quinlan, Jennifer Chewning, Brian Racanelli, Heidi Fredericks, and William Spraul III; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
