Ruwe Halsey ’67 died on September 28, 2023, in Riverside, Connecticut.

Ruwe Halsey, 78, of Riverside, CT, went to his eternal rest on September 28, 2023, after a brief but brave battle with cancer. He is the son of the late Bettyjane (Ruwe) and Bates Halsey. Ruwe lived practically all of his life in the Riverside/Greenwich area.
Ruwe was educated in the Greenwich Public Schools, beginning with Riverside School, then Eastern Junior High School, Greenwich Country Day School and finishing with high school at Deerfield Academy, Deerfield, MA. He attended Bowdoin College, Brunswick, ME, and graduating in 1967. He also earned his MBA from the University of Connecticut.
After graduating from college, Ruwe spent the next five to six years living in San Francisco where he met and married his wife of fifty-two years, Jo Marie Frank. In San Francisco, he was employed as a stock broker, stock trader and life insurance salesman. Upon his return to Connecticut, he was employed at the family business, the Ruwe Pencil Company. Ruwe was also employed in marine sales at Hitchcock Marine, Bridgeport, CT, and Beacon Point Marine, Cos Cob, CT.
Ruwe leaves behind his wife, Jo Marie, their children, Jason R. Halsey and Rebecca M. McCollam (John); their grandchildren who affectionately knew him as “Papa Mallard”; Drayk H. Bowen, Dylan H. Bowen, and Dallas L. Bowen; and his sisters, Wendy H. Otto (Charles) and Sally J. Halsey.
Ruwe had a lifelong passion for woodworking and made numerous clocks, bookshelves, fences and sheds. He also loved watching sports, all types; and was never happier than when he was watching his children and grandchildren play, even if it was on TV.
