Rumford – Sheila A. McCarthy, 61, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 13, 2016. She was the beloved wife of Frank L. Ryan. The couple would have celebrated their thirty-third wedding anniversary on September 24, 2016. Born in Dover, New Hampshire, a daughter of the late Thomas J. and June (Brennan) McCarthy, she resided in Rumford for over thirty years. Sheila was a member of the American Association of University Women. Besides her husband, she leaves her children, Frank L. Ryan of Cranston, Charles S. Ryan of Oviedo, Florida and Rose Ryan of Rumford; three grandchildren, Frank Ryan, Brescielle Ryan and Mitchell Ryan; a daughter-in-law, Aga Wieczorek of Cranston; a brother, Thomas McCarthy and his wife, Susan of Amherst, New Hampshire; three sisters, Mary Fortin and her husband, Roger of Hudson, New Hampshire, Suzanne Myers and her husband, Fred of North Andover, Massachusetts and Catherine Gombas and her husband, David of Francestown, New Hampshire and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Daniel Ryan and Peter Ryan.
