Stephen W. Silverman ’61 died on November 11, 2021, in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Stephen Silverman, 81, of Longmeadow passed away November 11 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born and raised in Dover, New Hampshire, and graduated from Bowdoin College and Boston College Law School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and practiced law in Springfield for more than fifty years, speaking at legal symposia and helping advance civil rights laws. He sailed the Block Island Sound portion of the seven seas, photographed famed jazzmen in artsy black & white and Boston sports in glorious color, and tickled the ivories in local jazz bands. As a member of the Reality Club, he spoke on various fascinating and realistic topics. His happiest memories include his marriage, the births of his children and grandson, the purchase of his sailboat, and the sale of his sailboat. He is survived by his wife, Sharlene, his children, Aaron (Lucy) and Lisa (Michael), his grandson, Payton, his sister, Joyce Ben-Kiki, and numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, in-laws, and friends. Donations in his memory may be made to Baystate Health Foundation, Heart & Vascular Program. The Ascher-Zimmerman Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
