Theodore A. Noyes ’44

Theodore A. Noyes ’44 died on January 27, 2012, in College Station, Texas.

He was born in Duluth, Minn., on February 28, 1923, and graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas. He attended Bowdoin for one year and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1944 with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering. He worked for a commercial engineering company until returning to Texas A&M in 1954, where he taught mechanical engineering until retiring as professor emeritus in 1985. He was a veteran of World War II. An avid mariner, he sailed from Florida to Spain in 1992 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Columbus’s crossing of the Atlantic. He served two terms as Commodore of the Brazos Sailing Club. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Frye Noyes; son Terry Noyes; daughter Valerie Noyes Gerbig; stepson Terry Frye; stepdaughter Patricia Svendson; sister Priscilla Noyes Crosson; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine Ryan Noyes; brothers Baldwin D. and Jonathan H. Noyes; and sisters Lillian F. Noyes and Cornelia Noyes Bonner.
