Theodore D. Lazo ’54 died on May 7, 2023, in Chestertown, Maryland.

Theodore Dean Lazo, of Chestertown, MD, died peacefully on May 7, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family.
Ted was born in Bridgeport, CT, on July 2, 1932, and then lived globally with his family, including in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, before graduating from high school in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He graduated from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME, and the NYU School of Business in New York, NY.
Ted was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, colleague, and friend. He began his business career as a CPA with Price Waterhouse before joining Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he spent many happy years as the Chief Financial Officer of the company’s consumer products division.
In retirement, he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, becoming a skilled builder who helped construct many homes in Florida, North Carolina, and Maryland.
He was an active member of the Shrewsbury Parish Church in Kennedyville, MD.
Ted was the beloved husband of Katherine McAlenney Lazo for fifty-seven years; father of Theodore R. Lazo (Elizabeth O’Hara), Cynthia Bertolini (Lorenzo Bertolini); grandfather of Elena, Maria Luisa, Francesco, Tommaso, and Pier Carlo Bertolini; son of the late Joseph Oscar Lazo and Elinore Hall Lazo; brother of the late Louis H. Lazo and Hector R. Lazo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
