Virginia M. Linkovich, who worked as a secretary at Bowdoin off and on for twenty years, died on July 27, 2013, at Mid Coast Senior Health Care in Brunswick, Maine.
She was born in Haverhill, Mass., on Feb. 12, 1925, and graduated from Nashua (N.H.) High School in 1943. She moved to Maine following her marriage to Mike Linkovich, long-time Bowdoin athletic trainer, on Nov. 24, 1960. She was hired in 1972 as a clerk/typist in the economics department, and over the course of the next twenty years worked as a secretary in the economics, history, and government departments. She was a member and volunteer of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and of People Plus, where she was actively involved in both the bridge and cribbage groups. She also was a former member of the Brunswick Golf Club and served on the board of directors of the Stevens Home. She is survived by her husband of forty years, Mike Linkovich; sons, Steven M. and Michael J. Linkovich; sister Barbara Vaughan; and brother Martin Badoian. She was predeceased by sister Elizabeth Demakis.
