Willard H. Cobb Jr. ’47

Willard H. Cobb Jr. ’47 died on January 9, 2015, in Hockessin, Delaware. 

He was born on September 7, 1922, in Boston. He prepared for college at Cheshire Academy in Cheshire, CT, and Harrison High School in Harrison, NY. Cobb attended Yale University for two years before entering the US Army Signal Corps, where he achieved the rank of master sergeant during World War II. Following the war, he enrolled at Bowdoin, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and the football team. Upon graduation, Cobb worked at DuPont Company, where he met his wife, Inez Macklin. He worked for DuPont for thirty-eight years in Rhode Island, Ohio, New Jersey, and Delaware. He was predeceased by his wife, Inez, and a brother, Emmons Cobb ’35. He is survived by his son, Barry ’73; grandsons; and a great grandson.
