William H. Martin II ’43 died on January 16, 2012, in Bethesda, Maryland.
He was born July 3, 1921, in Fort Fairfield, and graduated from Bangor High School. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He also studied at Vanderbilt University and George Washington University. He served to corporal in the Army infantry during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded four Campaign Stars, a Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, and Combat Infantryman’s Badge. He retired from a career in sales in 1983. He is survived by a son, William H. Martin III; three daughters, Gail Hendrix, Suzann Martin, and Kathleen Huston; and a brother, Ralph Martin. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, June J. McGuire Martin.
