William S. Baxter, Jr. ’66 died on December 26, 2023, in Liverpool, New York.

William S. Baxter, Jr. ’66

William S. Baxter, Jr., 79, of Liverpool, NY, passed away on Tuesday. He was born in Mineola, NY, son of the late William and Margaret (Smith) Baxter, Sr. Bill grew up on Long Island and attended Phillips Exeter Academy. He continued his studies receiving his bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College. After graduating, Bill enlisted in the military serving as a captain in the U.S. Army. While stationed in Joliet, IL, he met his wife of fifty-two years, the former Elaine S. Thompson. Bill retired as a manager with Mutual of New York (MONY) in Syracuse, NY in 1989. He also held several jobs throughout his retirement.

Bill was a hardworking and devoted husband, father and grandpa. His fondest memories were summers in New Hampshire and his family will cherish their memories of “Camp Grandpa”. He is predeceased by his sister, Linda Griffin.

Surviving are his wife, Elaine S. Baxter, three daughters; Deborah B. (Eric) Gregoire, Kimberly A. (Brian) Bennett, Julie M. Baxter-Mulligan, eight grandchildren; Erin, Nathaniel, Michael, Andrew, Owen, Michael, Brendan, Corey, his brother, Philip (Silvia) Baxter, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
