William S. Burke ’60

William S. Burke ’60 died on August 2, 2016, in Providence, Rhode Island.

BURKE, WILLIAM S. 78, died August 2, 2016, from Alzheimers disease. Born in Pawtucket on May 1, 1938, he was the son of the late Franklin A. & Marion E. (Jacobs) Burke. Mr. Burke was raised in Barrington. He attended the Providence Country Day School, Bowdoin College (B.A.), Rutgers University School of Business (M.B.A.) and the New York School of Law (J.D.). He lived in Brooklyn Heights and Larchmont, New York, where he served as a CPA and attorney. Upon his return to Rhode Island in the 1980’s he was employed in the Private Bank of the Hospital Trust Company and its successor banks: BankBoston, Fleet National, and Bank of America. Bill retired in 2008. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Cuban Missile Crisis from 1961 to 1962. He is survived by a brother, Richard A. Burke of Providence. He was predeceased by his sister Mary M. Burke and by his brother Robert W. Burke.
