William V. Knapton ’49 died on October 18, 2013, at his home in Marion, Massachusetts.
He was born in Lawrence, Mass., on February 25, 1928, and prepared for college at Lawrence High School. He was a member of Alpha Delta Phi fraternity. He served in the Army during the Korean War and served as honor guard for General MacArthur and Winston Churchill. He worked for Isotronics for many years until his retirement. He was an active member of St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, where he served as a lector, chalice bearer, usher, and sexton. He is survived by sons William F. and Richard E. Knapton; daughter Cathy A. Cowell; sisters Carol Moore and Barbara Earnshaw; six grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly J. Cook Knapton, and sister Jean Hughes.
