Willis H. Goodman ’54

Willis H. Goodman ’54 died on May 24, 2022, in Framingham, Massachusetts.

Willis died peacefully in his home at the age of 89 from Alzheimer’s disease.

He was predeceased of his wife, Jane Goodman, (of 56 years), by two years and his only sister, Eunice Ruby, by one month. Willis is survived by his three children and family: daughter Lisa Osborn (husband Billy); granddaughters Katherine and Meghan Osborn; son, Scott Goodman (wife Lori); granddaughter Nicole Goodman; and step grandchildren Jimmy and Colby; daughter Allison Goodman; brother-in-law Robert Ruby; nephew Matt Ruby (wife Kathy); and niece JoAlice Grimshaw (husband Matthew ).

He was raised in Waban and graduated from Newton High School. He attended Bowdoin College as an English major and was in the Chi Psi fraternity. After college he enlisted in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan as a first lieutenant. Upon completing his military service he returned to Maine to be a teacher of English and a tennis coach at the Kent Hill School. He came back to start his own cleaning business and raise his family in Needham. He had a successful business for over forty years and hadan incredible work ethic.

He had a great love of singing in choirs, tennis, English literature, classical piano and in later years, watching football and old movies. He sang right till the end.
