Wilson E. Smith ’67 died on July 2, 2023, in Carmel Valley, California.
(The following was provided by the Monterey Herald on July 8, 2023:)
Wilson Smith, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, brother-in-law, friend, chiropractic physician, and healer extraordinaire, passed away from sudden complications of multiple myeloma. He passed surrounded by friends and family at home – in a field of love and gratitude from all those whose lives he touched. Will grew up in Connecticut on the Long Island Sound, where his love of boats, the water, and tinkering and fixing began a lifelong passion. He was able to fix just about anything. His passion for self-discovery brought him to California after graduating with an undergraduate degree from Bowdoin College and then a Ph.D. in psychology from Cornell. He became a Riechian therapist and then continued his studies at Cleveland College of Chiropractic, where he earned his second doctorate. Will met his wife, Patricia Wolff, at applied kinesiology seminars in Los Angeles, while both were chiropractic students with backgrounds as psychotherapists and became fast friends – marrying in 1983. They practiced chiropractic medicine together at a multidisciplinary health center in Santa Monica for several years before leaving on a one-year RV odyssey with their one-year-old son. They traveled across the country and back, eventually making Carmel Valley both their home and place of practice as CV Chiropractic Clinic. Will took tremendous pleasure in hiking the local CV mountains, camping, and backpacking. He even hiked the highest peak of every California county! He loved his family, his patients, studying and exploring with tremendous passion. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him! He is survived by his wife, Patricia Wolff, children Arren and Ya Mei Wolff-Smith (Daniel), grandchildren Nova and Argo, mother-in-law, Ruth Wolff, sisters Kim and Brenda Wilson, and beloved dog, Ducky.
