Carla Gallati Dorsey ‘82 died on October 6, 2026, in Waldoboro, Maine.

Carla Gallati Dorsey, class of 1982, died suddenly on October 6th, 2026. Carla was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and earned her medical degree from the University of Virginia in 1986. She completed her psychiatric residency at St. Mary’s Hospital in San Francisco and then started a private practice in Portland, Oregon. She leaves behind two children, Crispin Gaines Dorsey and Clementine Wallis Dorsey, and her husband of forty-two years, William “Biff” Dorsey, Bowdoin class of 1983.
Carla was a kind, caring and helpful individual, and those qualities seemed to destine her for her psychiatric profession. She was also one of the top students in her class, which was remarkable for a junior-year transfer student to Bowdoin. My condolences to her husband, Biff Dorsey, who mirrored her kindness, and their children. Rest in peace, Carla.
