Eldridge G. Rines ’53

Eldridge G. Rines ’53 died on April 20, 2018, in Epsom, New Hampshire.

Elbridge G. Rines, eighty-seven, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 at his home in Epsom, New Hampshire. He was born September 2, 1930 in Center Ossipee, New Hampshire, the son of the late Harlan J. and Ruth (Snow) Rines.

He grew up in the Wolfeboro, New Hampshire area, and after graduating from Brewster Academy in 1948, he attended Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine where he earned a BA in Physics in 1953. Later that year while working for Westinghouse in Pittsburg, PA, he was drafted into the Army at the end of the Korean War. After serving two years, he returned to NH where he worked for General Electric in Somersworth, NH for 31 years. He lived in Rochester, New Hampshire from 1956 to 2015 where he spent his retirement years restoring and enjoying Walnut Grove Farm.

He was married to Marjorie J. (Ormsby) Rines for nearly sixty-five years, and is survived by her and their five children, Glen Rines and his wife Pinky of Hollis, NH, Marcia (Rines) Kothman and her husband Robert of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Joan (Rines) Hargreaves and her husband Andy of King George, VA, Dana Rines and his wife Lorraine of Rochester, New Hampshire, and David Rines and his wife Bridget of Hollis, New Hampshire; and by eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was an active member of True Memorial Baptist Church in Rochester, New Hampshire for sixty years where he served as a Deacon, Trustee and Sunday school teacher.
