Everett P. “Peter” Strong Jr. ’58

Everett P. “Peter” Strong Jr. ’58 died June 10, 2013, in Bradenton, Fla. He was born on November 11, 1936, in Hartford, Conn., and prepared for college at the Loomis School (now Loomis-Chaffee). He was a member of Alpha Delta Phi fraternity, and served to specialist third class in the Army. His career in the insurance, pension, and benefits administration business began as a group representative for the Aetna Life Insurance Company in New York City, where he developed an international pension program for 20th Century Fox employees in thirty-nine countries. In 1980, he established his own benefits administration company, Compensation Programs Inc., from which he retired in 2003. A lover of history, he replaced about 1,000 corroding cast iron flag holders with aluminum flag holders at the graves of Civil War veterans in ten cemeteries throughout the Northeast, at his own expense. He was a member of the Schuyler Meadows Club. He is survived by his wife, Diane Cummings Strong, and sister Elizabeth Henderson.
