Leonidas B. Southerland III ’55

Leonidas B. Southerland III ’55 died June 14, 2013, in Marietta, Ga. He was born in Miami on October 6, 1932, and prepared for Bowdoin at College de Petionville in Petionville, Haiti, and Christ School in Arden, N.C. He was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He studied Spanish at the University of Santo Domingo and served to first lieutenant in the Army. His career in hotel management took him to the Dominican Republic, New York City, and St. Croix, where he lived for thirty years. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Sara Simons Southerland.
