Mark I. Chase ’71 died on December 8, 2023, in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Littleton, NH – Mark Irwin Chase, 75, of Littleton, NH, passed away suddenly December 8th at Dartmouth Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, with his family by his side. Mark was the eldest child born to Louise Knowlton Chase and William Roger Chase on November 1, 1948, in Greenfield, MA. His dad was an engineer, so the family did relocate from time to time. Mark spoke frequently of his time growing up in Bristol, CT, and Enfield, NH. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and earned Eagle Scout in 1965. He was a member of the Mascoma High School track team and played basketball prior to graduating in 1966. He continued his education attending Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME, until 1969 when he transferred to the Whittemore School, University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH. While at UNH he was in three honor societies and received a full tuition scholarship. He earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and business administration, graduating in 1971 with the highest GPA in his business school graduating class. Mark was employed for a few years in the hospitality business in the management and controller positions. From 1978 to 1985 he owned and operated the Public House Restaurant and Lounge in Littleton. Following the Public House was Practical Solutions, where he was Manager/ISO/Agent in the bankcard industry. He entered the retail business and worked in various management positions until he took a position as business consultant with Efficient Air Systems, Westbrook, ME. Mark was one who always looked for the positive in everyone. He was a loving husband, father, stepdad, papa, brother (in-law), cousin, uncle, and all-around great guy. He did enjoy a margarita now and then, but his favorite was always Kahlua. He was predeceased by his parent,s Bill and Louise Chase, nephew Mathew Chase, his aunt and uncle, Shirley and John Bock, Uncle Norm Robinson, in-laws- Dick, Jim, Tom, and David Buck, Bea Vilakis, and Dayne Rae Buck.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Buck Chase, children, Amanda and Dylan Chase, Alicia Persons, Eric and his wife, Deb Rexford. Grandchildren are Taylor Becker, Tiffany Eastman-Persons, Hannah and Michaela Persons, and Alexis Rexford, and great-grandson, Mathias Pray. Siblings are William and his wife, Marjorie Chase, JoEllen and her husband, Ben Harris, and Geoffrey Chase; his aunt, Rachel Darling, cousins David, Dana, Sandy, Robbi, and Joe; his brother and sisters-in-law Stanley Vilakis, Louise Buck, and Linda Ward, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
