Paul Hwoschinsky passed away March 1 in Portland, Oregon. He was 93 and had been a recent resident of Ashland for over twenty-eight years. He is survived by his wife, Carol, now of Portland, son Peter of Portland, daughter Suzanne Barnes and son-in-law Ken Barnes of Ashland, and grandchildren, Natasha, Kyle, and Alexander Barnes. Carol and Paul were married sixty-six years. Paul was passionate about wilderness trekking, high mountain photography and biointensive, organic gardening. Friends and family will remember him for his laughter and enthusiasm, creativity and his generosity of greens from his garden.

    Paul Hwoschinsky was an important figure in my childhood. He taught me to love nature and to look at the world through my own eyes and not let society dictate my thoughts and views. His mark on the word lives beyond his years.
