Robert W. Olson ’63 died on April 1, 2010, in Grosse Point, Michigan.

Robert W. Olson, 69, passed away, Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe. He was born Feb. 19, 1941 to Warren and Janet (née King) Olson and attended Shattuck St. Mary’s Prep School in Faribault, Minn. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Bowdoin College in 1963. During the 1960s, he served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. On Sept. 9, 1967, he married Marilyn Schwartz at Faith Lutheran Church in Detroit. Mr. Olson owned Schwartz Boring Co., Schwartz Precision Gear and Conner Engineering. He enjoyed skiing, playing tennis, golfing and traveling and was an active member and usher at St. James Lutheran Church in Grosse Pointe Farms. He was a member of the U of M Club of Greater Detroit and the Western Golf and Country Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family at their summer home in Canada. Mr. Olson is survived by Marilyn, his wife of 42 years; daughters, Joan (Kim) Fisher and Katherine (Matthew) Czerkis; granddaughter, Emerson Fisher and his brother, Charles (Joan).
