Shaun K. Butler ’77 died on February 10, 2025, in New York, New York.

Shaun Katherine Butler, 70, died on February 10, 2025, at the NYU Hospital, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends until she peacefully passed.
Shaun was born in Lewiston, Maine, on March 9, 1954, to her beloved parents, Rosemarie and John T. Butler. Shaun was an exemplary student and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1972 as the valedictorian of her class. Shaun was a member of the Debate Club, editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, and a participant in Girls State, the Student Council, and other activities.
Initially, Shaun attended Smith College in Northampton, MA, and then transferred to Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME, where she graduated in 1977. Shaun went on to receive an M.B.A. at the New York University Stern School of Business.
Shaun began her career as a bond rating analyst at Standard & Poor’s. She continued her career at Lehman Brothers, where she worked, first, in commercial paper and fixed income research, and later, as managing director and head of investor relations. Shaun was well respected by colleagues, senior leaders, and the buy-and-sell-side investment communities.
Socially, Shaun was extraordinarily caring and kind to family and friends, and through her intellect and generous spirit, inspired many people to achieve their full potential. Additionally, Shaun knew how to have fun. She relished food and wine, theater and film, fashion, opera and all music, dance, literature, travel, museums, art, and she was quick to invite her friends to attend many related events with her. Shaun loved her family and friends, and her family and friends ADORED Shaun.
Shaun is survived by her devoted husband of thirty-six years, Ray Harris; her siblings – Pat Butler, Kathy Butler, and Mary Lou Harris; and many family members and friends. Shaun will be missed by all.
