Timothy M. Hayes ’63

Timothy M. Hayes ’63 died on February 4, 2018, in Aptos, California.

Timothy Mitchell Hayes died in Aptos, CA, February 4, 2018 from a rare neuro-muscular disease. He faced the ravages of the disease with courage and dignity.

He earned a PhD in physics in 1968 from Harvard University. He held positions at Xerox, Colorado School of Mines, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He was the author of many scientific papers and frequently traveled abroad, lecturing in his field of solid state physics.

Tim is survived by his wife, Linn Spencer Hayes; son Andrew of Olympia, WA, his wife Farra, and their sons Zachary and Landin; son Michael of Pelham, MA, his wife Sarah ’99, and their daughters, Ella and Meghan. He is also survived by his brother, William Hayes of Halifax, NS.
