William H. Freeman ’56 died on December 29, 2014, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, Maine.
He was born in Greenfield, MA, on September 26, 1934, and prepared for college at Deerfield Academy. At Bowdoin, he majored in German with a minor in history. Freeman was a member of the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity, a cappella choir, Meddiebempsters, and glee club. He was also a member of the hockey team and was active in cheerleading and ROTC. Following graduation, Freeman enrolled at the Episcopal Theological Seminary in Cambridge, MA, and was ordained an Episcopal priest at St. Stephens Church in Lynn, MA. During his career, he served churches in Lynn, MA; Oakes and Guelph, ND; Marshfield Hills, MA; White Earth Indian Reservation, MN; and Westford, MA. In 1957, he married Carol Brickett, who survives him, as do his son, Bruce; daughters Meredith and Jane; five grandchildren; and his sister Priscilla Freeman and brother Perrin Newel Freeman Jr.
