George M. Reeves ’51 died on October 29, 2012, in Kennebunk, Maine.

George Milton Reeves, 83, formerly of Skolfield House, passed away October 29, 2012, at the Kennebunk Nursing Home. He was born in Everett, MA, July 11, 1929, the son of James and Mildred McElroy Reeves.

George attended local schools and graduated from Thornton Academy in 1947. He also attended and graduated from Bowdoin College in 1951. He later received a doctorate from New York University. He taught in France for ten years at Polytechnique, then at Indiana University, and Ohio State University, from which he retired.

He enjoyed traveling, including to India, Italy, France, England, Ireland, and Greece. He also enjoyed reading, poetry, and swimming. He also wrote two books, Idioms and Idioms in Action.

He is survived by his relative and caregiver, Bonnie Miller of Saco, and two cousins, Jane Cunningham of Derry, NH, and Mary Bassett of Jericho, Vt.
